The YZR-M1 bike of Yamaha will witness the departure of former title sponsor, Movistar. Previous Yamaha bikes were all colored blue but with the arrival of Monster, the new livery is now colored black and blue.

Managing Director of Yamaha, Lin Jarvis commented,

"We're kicking off here in a very positive way,"

Speaking to the media during the ceremony held in the capital of Indonesia, Jakarta; he further added: "I think the merging of these two brands [Yamaha and Monster] brings a new energy to the project.

"We like a lot the colour of the bike, the design, it's more aggressive - and I think that's what we need to be."

Valentino Rossi, who was also present, stated: "I like it very much - Yamaha is always blue, and the blue of the Yamaha is beautiful, but I like the black of Monster because [the combination is] the colour of my soccer team, Inter, so I feel comfortable."

The new black and blue themed YZR-M1 will be ridden by 7 times world champion, Valentino Rossi and Maverick Vinales. It's worth mentioning that Vinales brought an end to one of the longest running win-droughts of Yamaha last season. The winless streak was finally discontinued once Vinales prevailed in Australia.

Rodney Sacks added: "I'm excited that we've been able to step up and expand our visibility as the title sponsor of the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP team,"

The Chairman and CEO of Monster Energy asserted that the YZR-M1 will be the best looking bike on the grid.

"Vale and Maverick will be piloting what we think is the best-looking bike on the grid."

Both Valentino Rossi and Maverick Vinales will give the new Yamaha its first shakedown in Sepang, where the first pre-season testing will kicks off on February 6th and last until February 8th.

Vinales mentioned: "I can't wait to start, the holidays were already too long,"

"I would like to be on the bike.

"I'm really curious to see the steps forward we did, and see if we can push the bike at the maximum already in the first test." said Vinales.
