FIA World Endurance Championship will run it's fifth round of the season at Circuit of The Americas, replacing the previously confirmed Sao Paulo on 2019-20 calendar.
The series made the announcement on Monday with the reason for the shift being an issue with the local promoter that led the decision to cancel the return of Brazilian race after six years.
COTA last hosted the race in 2017, and will return for the first time in second edition of WEC "SuperSeason".
The race's date has also been shifted three weeks ahead on 22-23 February to avoid clashes with NFL Super Bowl and FIA Formula E Championship round in Mexico City.
FIA WEC Chief Executive Officer Gerard Neveu said:
“Firstly we must thank Bobby Epstein and the Circuit of The Americas for accommodating us at relatively short notice.
“It is an excellent venue, and our fans, competitors and media are now assured of excellent racing in North America not once, but twice in two months.
"Of course, it is very unfortunate to find ourselves in this position. The WEC very much regrets this situation and feels very sad for the City of São Paulo and the many thousands of Brazilian motorsport fans.
“Our main concern was our competitors and partners, and we have worked very hard to find a solution which offered the least disruption possible.”
The series now faces a direct clash with Bathurst 12 Hour and Asian Le Mans Series round at Buriram, affecting several of the drivers racing in WEC.
The race at COTA also means 2019-20 calendar has two rounds in America as double-header, as Sebring will run sixth round of the season.
