Envision Virgin Racing was the pacesetter on Friday practice sessions at Diriyah E-Prix, after Sam Bird went quickest for a second consecutive time for the British team.

The Englishman set a 1:14.353s as the chequered flag fell, ending the session on top ahead of the nearest-placed DS Techeetah of Antonio Felix da Costa in second.

Bird became the only driver in the session to set a time in 1:14s, with da Costa's quickest time being a 1:15:147.

The session started with Full Course Yellow period, as marshals went out to fix track issue at Turn 4.

After the session resumed, plenty of incidents happened with most significant being James Calado clipping his car into the wall, avoiding a slow-going Daniel Abt and running wide to avoid hitting him.

The Jaguar suffered a left-rear puncture but Calado pitted in time to take the car to track later in the session.

Venturi Racing's Edoardo Mortara finished 3rd, ahead of Nissan pairing of Sebastien Buemi and Oliver Rowland, Nissan being a second off the pace.

Traffic also hindered many drivers' chances to put in a good lap, with Jean-Eric Vergne nudging into the back of Alexander Sims to get a quick lap. The reigning Formula E champion ended the session in 11th.

Qualifying will take place at 11 am local time.
