Andretti Autosport's Ryan Hunter-Reay managed to clock the fastest lap time of the two Practice sessions on Friday. The Honda powered, 2014 Indy 500 winner lapped the streets of St. Petersburg in 1:00.896 secs.

Hunter-Reay had previously been the 2nd fastest driver in Practice 1, only eclipsed by Felix Rosenqvist. But the Swedish rookie could only produce 14th fastest lap time during the 2nd practice session, as his best lap time was a 1:01.502 secs.

Both Spencer Pigot and Marco Andretti went 2nd and 3rd fastest, and with Marco's lap time of 1:00.981 secs, Andretti Autosport managed to get 2 cars in the top 3.

Although the Harding Steinbrenner of Colton Herta expired later in the session, he was still able to slot himself into the 4th spot on the time sheets, as he logged a lap time of 1:01.007 secs.

He was followed by Max Chilton in 5th and Alexander Rossi in 6th position. Both the drivers were 0.021 secs apart. James Hinchcliffe was the 7th fastest man out on the track with a lap time of 1:01.145 secs.

The Team Penske cars of Josef Newgarden, Will Power and Simon Pagenaud could only go 9th, 10th and `17th fastest respectively. While Carlin's Charlie Kimball was sandwiched in between Power and Newgarden, as he secured the 8th fastest lap time.

Marcus Ericsson, who had finished 3rd in the previous session, could only be 19th quickest, as he rubbed the wall. Ben Hanley of Dragon Speed yet again couldn't make any significant improvements, and remained at the bottom of the table, with a 1:04.077 secs; with a gap of 3.181 secs to the top.
