Sergey Sirotkin confirmed for 2019 24 Hours of Le Mans

Former Formula 1 driver for Williams Racing is confirmed for the remainder of 2018-19 World Endurance Championship Super Season.

The Russian, splitting from Williams at the end of 2018 after being replaced with Robert Kubica, is hopeful of a better career and a possible return to Formula 1 in future.


“I am very glad that I have the honour of defending the colours of the Russian flag on the Russian prototype as part of the Russian SMP Racing team in the World Endurance Championship,” said Sirotkin on the announcement.


“We have outstanding line-ups and excellent cars, with which, I am sure, we will be able to fight for the win, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans.”


Sirotkin will join co-drivers Stephane Sarrazin and Egor Orudzhev in #17 BR Engineering BR1 car, replacing Matevos Isaakyan.
