Ryan Hunter-Reay the fastest in Free Practice 3 at St. Petersburg

Ryan Hunter-Reay topped the session with just fractions ahead of 1 minute mark

Ryan Hunter-Reay went fastest again in final practice session for the opening round of IndyCar series.

The Andretti driver lapped the circuit in 60.896s, ahead of Josef Newgarden in the Penske-Chevrolet who was just shy of 0.0039s.

Takuma Sato was third, ahead of the other two Penskes of Simon Pagenaud and Will Power.

The session was red flagged after 15 mins, as Zach Veach spun at Turn 13 and went into the tire wall.

After that, Ben Hanley in the DragonSpeed was the next to trigger red flags, as he stalled the car at Turn 4.

Max Chilton was the next driver to bring red flags, as he went into run-off and stalled the car. Ed Jones was last to cause stoppage as he stalled his car in run off area. He was 6th fastest at the end.

Reigning IndyCar champion finished 7th, with 1:01.1482, ahead of his rookie teammate Felix Rosenqvist who was just a few hundredths of a second behind him.

Colton Herta was 9th in Harding Steinbrenner Racing, the American making an impressive debut so far while rounding up the Top 10 was Matheus Leist of A.J. Foyt Enterprises, just half a second down Hunter-Reay's time.
