The biggest highlight of the third day is undeniably the fastest lap by Oliver Jarvis in Qualifying, as the #77 Mazda DPi broke finally broke the record of PJ Jones, though unofficially.

Mazda Tops the Day

Mazda #55 was quickest in the 6th session and topped the day with 1:34.224 with the #77 Mazda second, four-tenths off the lead.

#31 Action Express was third quickest, Eric Curran managing 1:34.821.

Ben Hanley was quickest in LMP2, setting 1:35.975 in #81 DragonSpeed.

Richard Westbrook lead GTLM class in #67 Ford, a 1:43.083 in the Ford GT.

Oliver Jarvis writes his name in the record books

Mazda stormed the DPi qualifying and took the best garage spot in Daytona as Oliver Jarvis set a flying lap of 1:33.398 on third lap of session, beating the record of PJ Jones in the Toyota Eagle MK III.

Harry Ticknell finished second in the sister car and secured the second garage in the pits, 0.025s off Jarvis.

As it stands, everyone around the paddock and Mazda credited the drivers, a strong car and especially the new Michelin tyres, as Continental left the sport after 2018.

The Acura Penske of Ricky Taylor was third quickest in DPi, Ricky Taylor setting 1:34.261 ahead of #5 Action Express of Filipe Albuquerque.

Gabriel Aubry topped LMP2 with 1:35.930, leading the two DragonSpeed cars and. Performance Tech ended up fourth.

In GTLM, #3 Corvette topped the class leaderboard, with Jan Magnussen lapping the circuit by 1:42.651. The #67 Ford ended up second after a tough battle with Corvette.

#66 sister Ford was third, ahead of two Porsches after the #911 and #912 made it late on the track.

Nissan tops the final session of the weekend

After a tough qualifying, only 15 cars made out on track. Loic Duval was quickest in the DPi class with 1:35.176 in #54 CORE Nissan.

As the final session of the weekend finally ends, the teams' focus shifts from the Roar to the actual race that starts later this month.
