RJN Motorsports partners with Jenson Button to enter Honda NSX in Blancpain GT

Jenson Team Rocket will compete for Silver Cup, with it's NSX GT3 Evo for 2019. The team aims to enter a 2nd car for 24 Hours of Spa.

The decision now means that RJN have shifted from it's long-partnership with Nissan to Honda, as Jenson is the ambassador of Japanese marque and competes in Super GT with NSX-GT.

The Team Rocket name dates back to Jenson's father and rallycross driver John Button whose team won several karting championships under the name and trained drivers like Will Stevens, James Calado and Lewis Hamilton. Button's long-time friend and reigning Pro-Am Cup Champion Chris Buncombe will take a commercial role.

“As a Honda ambassador, I’m pleased to be a part of something that brings the Honda NSX to the Blancpain GT Series and I’m looking forward to seeing this project evolve,” Button said of the deal.

"I’m sure a number of current drivers remember Rocket from back in their karting days and I hope we can use this platform to help with new young talent in GT and endurance racing," he added.

RJN Team Owner Bob Neville said: “I’m delighted and privileged to be in partnership with Jenson to race the superb NSX GT3 Evo. The team are preparing for the challenge of running what is a new car to us in the most competitive endurance championship in the world."

The team previously competed in International Touring Car series, Dakar Rally and Rally Raid before shifting to GT Racing.

RJN is first team to commit to Honda NSX for full season effort.

The car's green and white livery pays tribute to Brawn GP team, with which Jenson Button won his 2009 Formula 1 World Championship. The car co-incidentially has #22 as it's number, the one Button used during his time in Formula 1.
