
Pipo Derani took pole position at Sepang International Circuit for tomorrow's 4 Hours of Sepang that will set the automatic invitations for 24 Hours of Le Mans.
EDIT: Three penalties given to the cars after #38 Jackie Chan DC Racing and #5 TF Sport changed their engines. Both cars will now be given a 2-minute stop and go penalty. The third penalty is given to LMP3 pole sitter Viper Niza, as the team was found to have qualified in non-homologated equipment. That now means #65 car will start from back of the grid after all their laptimes were deleted.
The Brazilian driver put the Ligier to top of the charts by a 1:55.167 after the chequered flag, just ahead of the championship leaders Philip Hanson and Paul Di Resta in #22 United Autosports Ligier JS P2 to complete front row.
Championship leading United Autosport set a 1:55.370 and was provisionally the pole sitter until the #8 Spirit of Race crossed the finish line to get pole. The team also breached the track limits in their last lap, but kept their 2nd position on the grid.
Starting on the 2nd row is #24 Algarve Pro Racing Ligier, setting 1:55.406, just few tenths off pole position. The car also ran quite good earlier in the session and lead the pack but was beaten by the other Ligiers.
#35 Panis-Barathez was 4th quickest in LMP2 class, while #25 Algarve Pro Racing Ligier took pole in LMP2 Am class. The last LMP2 cars were that of United Autosports #23 and #4 ARC Bratislava.
In P3 class, Nigel Moore went fastest for #65 Viper Niza at the team's home race in a great fight with the LMP3 United Autosports. The Brit set a stunning lap of 1:59.907, only lap from a LMP3 car under 2:00 minutes mark.

Wayne Boyd was 2nd fastest for United Autosports in LMP3 class, ahead of Christian Olsen in #7 Ecurie Ecosse/Nielsen Racing Ligier. The Danish driver set a 2:00:416 to take the top spot on second row of LMP3 class but is now promoted to front row of the grid.
#36 Eurasia Motorsport took 4th position ahead of #13 Inter Europol car that currently leads the LMP3 championship but will start one position ahead in the race.
The only problems in the Prototype class was that of #79 Ecurie Ecosse/Nielsen as the car failed to make it to the session.
In GT class, Car Guy failed to secure their GT title by the pole position point, meaning they have to get a victory to get an automatic invitation for 24 Hours of Le Mans.
#88 TianShi Racing Team topped the first part of qualifying for GT class with Audi's factory driver Dries Vanthoor returning after sitting out of the race at Buriram. The Belgian ace set a 2:03.697 to put the TSRT Audi R8 LMS to pole position with a 2019 spec Evo kit.

Next up were the Ferraris, with #11 Car Guy Ferrari of James Calado ahead of his WEC teammate Alessandro Pier Guidi in #51 Spirit of Race. The #11 car failed to clinch the pole position by almost two-tenths.
#51 Spirit of Race Ferrari 488 GT3 was third, despite Pier Guidi's push for the pole. The Italian set 2:03.650 to lock out the top spot of 2nd row.
The sister TSRT Audi came fourth ahead of #51 TF Sport Aston Martin, with the Vantage GT3 competing in it's last race in Asia.
