Jan Magnussen leaves Corvette after years of Racing.

Corvette Racing has confirmed that their multiple Le Mans class winner, Jan Magnussen won’t return for 2020 WeatherTech Sportscar Championship season. Jan will be looking for exploring other opportunities after leaving Corvette.


Jan Magnussen finished his last race in 4th at the 2019 Petit Le Mans in his #3 Corvette C7.R.


Corvette racing announced the retirement on their Twitter account.

Jan Magnussen joined Corvette Racing back in 2004 and had a very successful career with the team. He won 35 races, 4 titles, 4 Le Mans Class wins, One Class victory at 24 Hours of Daytona and Two Class wins at 12 Hours of Sebring.


Magnussen stated, “I’m fortunate to have had such a long career with Corvette Racing,”

“When I joined the program in 2004, I never thought this would be my home for the next 16 years. The team is like my second family. I’m very proud of the championships and race wins we achieved together against very tough competition. Thanks to everyone at Corvette Racing for the good times and memories.”

Jim Campbell, Chevrolet U.S. vice president of Performance and Motorsports said, “Everyone at Corvette Racing thanks Jan for his years of dedication and professionalism during the last 16 years,”


“Jan has been a key part of the growth and success of Corvette Racing. His experience and insight have been invaluable.


“We hold Jan in the highest regard and wish him well in the next chapter of his career.”


Corvette still hasn’t confirmed who will replace Jan Magnussen in the #3 Corvette for 2020 Season. With several drivers in consideration to take Taylor's place at WTR, including Ryan Briscoe, Alex Lynn, Stoffel Vandoorne and Colin Braun.
