Indianapolis: Rosenqvist scores 1st pole position with Dixon 2nd

Chip Ganassi Racing secured a solid front row lockout amidst cold conditions at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course. IndyCar rookie, Felix Rosenqvist was the star of the afternoon, as he roared towards his first career pole position, with a lap time of 1:08.278s.

His teammate, the defending champion, Scott Dixon slotted himself in the 2nd spot on the grid. His lap was only 0.019s slower.
Jack Harvey of Meyer Shank Racing clocked a lap time of 1:08.323s to start 3rd tomorrow. He is followed by another rookie and COTA winner, Colton Herta in 4th position.
With all the top 4 entries being powered by Honda, Chevrolet powered Ed Jones managed to go 5th fastest by recording a lap time of 1:08.460s. Will Power rounded off the Fast 6, as he managed to retain his record of out-qualifying his teammates in every grand prix this season so far.
Outside of the fast 6, Graham Rahal lapped the circuit in 1:08.215s in Q3, which guaranteed him 7th spot on the grid. With 1:08.244s, Simon Pagenuad locked himself in 8th position.
Former F1 driver, Marcus Ericsson of Schmidt Peterson Motorsports showed some formidable pace, as he not only qualified 9th, but also managed to beat his teammate, James Hinchcliffe by a huge margin, as the Canadian could only qualify 18th fastest.
Sebastien Bourdais of Dale Coyne Racing qualified 10th fastest while his teammate, Santino Ferrucci lapped the circuit as fast as 14th, with a lap time of 1:08.449s. Takuma Sato and Spencer Pigot qualified 11th and 12th fastest respectively.
The current championship leader, Josef Newgarden qualified in 13th position, 7 spots down on his teammate, Will Power. Helio Castroneves in Penske #.3 clocked in a lap time of 1:08.649s and secured 15th position.
Both the Honda powered Andretti Autosports of Ryan Hunter-Reay and Alexander Rossi qualified 16th and 17th respectively. The two Chevrolet powered Carlins of O'Ward and Chilton went 19th and 22nd fastest, as they were separated by the duo of Zach Veach and Matheus Leist, with A.J. Foyt Enterprises driver doing a lap time of 1:08.775s.
The final two grid spots were locked by Marco Andretti and Tony Kanaan.
