GruppeM Mercedes 1-2 on Wednesday Test sessions at Laguna Seca

#888 GruppeM Mercedes AMG GT3 led the opening day of California 8 Hours, as brief rain fell

Maro Engel led GruppeM Mercedes-AMG to a 1-2 in Wednesday's paid test session for California 8 Hours at Laguna Seca for the second round of Intercontinental GT Challenge.

Reigning Blancpain GT Endurance Champion put the #888 Mercedes AMG GT3 to top with 1:24.233 on Pirelli tyres.


Reigning Blancpain GT Series champion Raffaele Marciello was just 0.361s shy of his teammate in #999 GruppeM, claiming second place.


Reigning Bathurst 12 Hour winner Dennis Olsen was third quickest in GT3 class with #912 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R, two-tenths quicker than KCMG Nissan.


#35 KCMG Nissan of Alex Buncombe, Oliver Jarvis and Joshua Burdon finished 4th at the end of the day, while claiming 3rd in second session.


#44 Strakka Racing Mercedes completed the Top 5, ahead of #29 Land Motorsport Audi R8 in sixth.

#41 PF Racing Mustang GT4 was quickest in GT4 class, with #67 TRG Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 CS and BMW M4 GT4 trailing behind.


During the afternoon session, #107 Bentley Continental GT3 stopped on the track with front-right tyre damage, triggering red flags.

Final test session will kick off at 9:20 am local time on Thursday, before Free Practice on Friday.
