ACO revealed today it's first part of 2019 Le Mans participants, in a two-stage process. The entry list sees only 42 cars getting confirmed instead of 50 that was announced.
Last November, ACO announced it will release the first 50 entrants for 2019 race on 11th February, before revealing the other 10 cars with reserve entries on 1st March.
Instead, today's announcement covered only 42 out of 50 cars, with full-season WEC cars for 2018-19 season as well as automatic entries from other series. 75 teams have applied in total according to Automobile Club de l'Ouest.
Out of 11 Auto Entries awarded for 2018 Le Mans, only 8 have applied, with Toyota in LMP1, Signatech Alpine Matmut in LMP2 and Porsche GT Team in GTE Pro not signing up, all 3 having won the 2018 edition in respective classes.
No cars by Ginetta are entered in the race, the manufacturer finally taking control of entries from customers. Ginetta also missed a couple of WEC races in 2018.
No GTLM entries from IMSA are confirmed up until now, which is surprising as Corvette was hinted to join the grid.
A privateer Ford, as rumoured yesterday, is entered for 2019 race for the first time.
Many other automatic entries are expected for the 2nd stage, with 4 of Asian Le Mans Series entries after season finale at Sepang, GTLM entries from IMSA and GTE or LMP2 entries from European Le Mans Series along with some other names.
Some of the drivers are named in the list, with rest to be announced.
