Chevrolet powered Team Penske's Will Power secured his 2nd pole position of the season, after an intense qualifying at Circuit Of The Americas. The reigning Indy 500 winner lapped the circuit in 1:46.018s, which was sufficient enough to beat Alexander Rossi.
Regardless of his two mistakes earlier in the session, the Penske driver had red compound installed to his car, and managed to sneak ahead of the Andretti cars in the dying moments of Fast 6.
Alexander Rossi was quick enough to secure the 2nd spot on the starting grid tomorrow. His lap was 0.16s slower than Will Power. Ryan Hunter-Reay will start from the 2nd row of the grid, as he managed to clock a lap time of 1:46.322s.

Jack Harvey had an unfortunate moment, as he spun around at turn-19, which costed him dearly. He was followed by James Hinchcliffe, Sebastien Bourdais as well as Spencer Pigot in 15th, 16th and 17th positions respectively.
While former F1 driver, Marcus Ericsson failed to set any lap time on the softer red banded compound, Team Penske's Simon Pagenaud and AJ Foyt Enterprises' Tony Kanaan were also unable to set any competitive times in Q1 Group 2.
