Chaz Mostert has been stopped from racing in TCR Australia by Tickford Racing Team, according to Speedcafe.
2014 Bathurst 1000 winner Chaz Mostert announced he would compete in the inaugral season of Touring Car Racing Australia for the Hyundai team but his Supercars team Tickford Racing has stopped him from competing.
“He has a contract with Tickford Racing and that decision always lies with the team,” said Tim Edwards, head of Tickford Racing to Speedcafe.com.
The Aussie not only competes in Supercars but also took part in last month's Daytona 24 Hours, this month's Bathurst 12 Hour and will race in California 8 hours at Laguna Seca next month, as a round of Intercontinental GT Challenge.
“In the past we have allowed Chaz to do quite a lot of other racing and providing there is no conflict of brands. Hyundai play in the same space as Ford in Australia with Focuses and i30s. It is a team decision and not one from Supercars,” said Edwards.
Mostert was found disappointed after the team's decision, saying: “I can’t really talk about it at this stage, I can’t do it, sorry. For whatever reasons are, I can’t."
