Construction work has finally begun on the street circuit in Hanoi, which will be host to the Vietnam Grand Prix, beginning from 2020.

Formula 1 car are all set to roar in the streets of Hanoi, as the sport adds yet another East Asian destination to its busy calendar. The circuit in Hanoi will be a 4th street course, alongside the likes of Monaco, Singapore and Baku.
Hanoi Motorsport Circuit takes inspiration from several other renowned venues already adorning the F1 calendar. Several turn sequences are copied from circuits such as Suzuka, Nurburgring and Monaco. The temporary racing facility will be partially street based, with some purpose built sections.
The street circuit, which was designed by the legendary Hermann Tilke, features 22 turns, and a straight as long as 1.5 kilometers; while the overall length of the circuit is 5.57 kilometers.
Hermann Tilke has previously undertaken several high profile F1 projects, including current circuits like Bahrain, Shanghai, Yas Marina (Abu Dhabi), Marina Bay (Singapore), Baku, COTA (Austin) as well as redesigned and shortened Hockenheimring.
His other notable works include Istanbul Park, Budh International Circuit and Sepang International Circuit, all three of which are not in use by Formula 1 anymore.
