Sergio Perez celebrating on the podium after finishing 3rd in the 2018 Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

Racing Point driver, Sergio Perez says that the engineers did "an incredible job" in regards to the 2019 aerodynamic rules changes.

FIA introduced a new set of rules for the 2019 F1 season, in order to increase overtaking and better slipstreaming. The new rules feature bigger and simplified barge boards, wider and simplified front wings, and a wider, and taller rear wing.

"So I think so far I'd say that F1, they have done an incredible job at the moment with the rules"

The Mexican driver, who will race for the newly formed Racing Point team, made it obvious that, the difference to other teams will only be evident in Melbourne.

"We will see in Melbourne really, what it's like racing with other cars around you with similar pace and so on,

"But I really hope the show can be a lot better."

Talking to Motorsport's Adam Cooper, Perez reflected upon the new DRS, which is bigger than it was in the previous seasons. Perez added that: "I think the delta to overtake a car should be reduced by quite a bit given you can follow more and the advantage from DRS.

"So I hope the racing can be a lot more fun for the fans and for the drivers."

Sergio Perez made his F1 debut in 2011, and he has 8 podiums to his name so far. The Mexican driver finished 8th in the drivers' standings last year. He is partnered by Lance Stroll for 2019, as the Canadian driver made his switch from Williams.
