This was a developing story. No more updates to be followed.

Renault has been disqualified from the official results of the 2019 Japanese Grand Prix due to a breach of the sporting regulations.

This means, that the French marque loses all the 9 points that they accumulated in Suzuka, courtesy of the P6 and P10 finish by Daniel Ricciardo and Nico Hulkenberg respectively.

Racing Point lodged a protest with the FIA soon after the Japanese Grand Prix had concluded. The British team had handed over a 12 page document, in which they voiced their suspicions of Renault using an illegal driving aid. Renault was suspected to be actively breaching 'pre-set lap distance-dependent brake bias adjustment system' rule in the FIA International Sporting Regulation.

As soon as the protest was found admissible by the FIA, the standard electronic control units and the steering wheels used by Ricciardo and Hulkenberg were impounded by the FIA for further investigation.

In theory, the Renault drivers were not adjusting the brake bias themselves, rather, it was being adjusted automatically in relevance to where the car was at that point on the track.

According to the article 27.1 of the FIA International Sporting Regulation, the driver must "drive the car alone and unaided."

The disqualification of Renault translates into Lance Stroll and Daniil Kvyat, both finishing 10th and 9th respectively. While the likes of Charles Leclerc, Pierre Gasly and Sergio Perez also being classified as 6th, 7th and 8th respectively.
