McLaren has announced a new multi-year partnership with BAT (British American Tobacco), which will focus merely on "reduced risk products and grounded in technology and innovation."

The CEO of McLaren, Zak Brown stated that: "[We] support their [BAT's] ambition of delivering meaningful and lasting change through innovation.

“We welcome BAT to the McLaren team"

"BAT’s transformation agenda is central to this partnership and we are pleased to share our technical experience and expertise in helping to accelerate this.”

As per the agreement, McLaren Applied Technologies, a subsidiary of the McLaren Group, will work closely with BAT in developing batteries as well as other technologies.

The official statement on McLaren's website reads that: "The multi-year partnership is centred on accelerating BAT’s transforming agenda, leveraging its portfolio of potentially reduced risk products, aiming to deliver the world’s tobacco and nicotine consumers a better tomorrow."

"[It is] further enabling us to accelerate the pace at which we innovate and transform ourselves." said the Chief Marketing Officer of BAT, Kingsley Wheaton. "It gives us a truly global platform with which to drive greater resonance of our potentially reduced risk products, including our Vype, Vuse and glo brands.

“We’re extremely proud and excited about this new partnership"

"Ultimately, innovation and technology will support us in creating a better tomorrow’ for our consumers worldwide.”

Earlier in the beginning of the month, McLaren had announced a new sponsorship deal with Swedish chocolates brand, Huski Chocolate. It is also expected that McLaren will retain a major sponsorship of soft drinks giant, Coca-Cola, going into the 2019 season.

McLaren is set to launch its much awaited MCL34, on February 14th, coinciding with the valentines' day. Both McLaren and Renault will enter a 2nd year of engine supply partnership with the contract running until 2020.
