McLaren on Thursday, became the first team to fire up its MCL34, which will race in the 2019 F1 season. The MCL34 is powered by the Renault engine and it will succeed the MCL33 from last year.

The MCL33 proved to be an underperforming car and ended up the second last in terms of pace by the end of the season.

The team posted a video on its social media channels, of both Renault and McLaren staffs gathering at MTC in Woking, to witness the MCL34 coming to life. It is worth noticing that the Renault engine sounds a lot different than 2018 and it might signal that, Renault has lived up to its claims of making a lot of changes for the upcoming season.

McLaren and Renault formed a partnership for the first time in Formula 1 history, after the Woking based squad fell-out with the Japanese marque, Honda. The former partnership with Honda proved to be disastrous as it barely bore any fruits at all. Honda is now partnered with Red Bull and its sister team, Toro Rosso.

The legendary British team had to endure a season marred with unsatisfactory results. The MCL33 proved to be an under-performing car, as it showed to have a number of aerodynamics related issues. 2019 will also be the first season since 2007, that will feature McLaren having a completely fresh and new drivers' lineup with Carlos Sainz Jr. and Lando Norris at the wheel.

McLaren is all set to pull the covers off the much anticipated MCL34, on February 14th. The team will look forward to a more competitive season ahead after capitalizing on the woes during the 2018 season.
