Sebastian Vettel who finished his 4th season with Ferrari, still isn’t able to catch their rivals, Mercedes, who just won their 5th title in a row.

Vettel thinks if Ferrari wants to win in 2019, they need to make sure they don’t repeat the same mistakes of 2018 in 2019.

He was asked at the FIA Gala in Russia this year, and he answered by saying, “Better performance. I think it is very simple.

“We had our races where we were very close and very competitive, and overall our car this year has been more an all-round car which worked on all tracks. So, we had our highlights and I think most of them we used.

"But, then we had too many races where we were not quite there. Sometimes by a tenth or two but sometimes a bit more, where we were left with not much to do over a weekend. And, that is something we must fix and try to control better going into next year.” Vettel continued.

Vettel reminded the interviewer of his victory in Bahrain as his best in 2018.

“I would say Bahrain because initially I didn’t like it, but now I really love it, I loved the trophy after the race. It was a tight battle after the last laps so it was good to hang onto the lead until the end.

He further said, “I think it was a long year, we had our ups and down. Most of us followed it very closely but we were able as a team to do another step.

In the end he added, “Still, the last step is missing to make sure that we have a word until the end of the championship and fight for it all the way, and not just for parts of the season.

Needless to say that both Ferrari and Vettel had their fair share of errors and mistakes this whole season. The Scuderia at times couldn't get the strategy right whereas Vettel either crashed with fellow drivers or spun. The DNF out of lead for the German at his home grand prix not only handed Hamilton a much needed victory and lead in the championship; it also turned out to be pivotal point in deciding the championship later on.

Hopefully both Ferrari and Vettel will return stronger in 2019 to yet again pose a serious threat to Mercedes' dominance of the sport.

Vettel remarks his victory in Bahrain to be the best of the season.
