Ferrari announced its car reveal date on 14th December, 2018. They also fired up their car on 1st February.

The driver line-up for 2019 consists of 4-time world champion Sebastian Vettel and young driver from Ferrari Academy, Charles Leclerc.

“Starting in 2018, we got really good achievements,” said Binotto at the launch.

This car is a development of last year’s car, it’s not a revolution. We’ve tried to push the bar, try to be some extreme as we could. Some changes like the front wing for the regulations. If you look at the details, we’ve tried to push hard, be innovative. If you look at the bodywork at the back, it’s very slim. It’s thanks to the entire job we’ve done. A lot of effort has been done. We like it.”

“We’re all excited,” added Vettel. “You start to see the car, little bits of it at the end of last year and then you see it come together but today is the first time you see it. I’m very excited – it’s incredible to see when everything gets together. Now I’m excited, I can’t wait to get in.”

Ferrari announced its title sponsor, Mission Winnow, at the 2018 Russian GP. Therefore, the team changed its official name to Mission Winnow Scuderia Ferrari. Mission Winnow created some controversy, despite a ban on tobacco advertising since 2007, Ferrari was advertising Marlboro in some way and then in 2018 they signed a new deal with Mission Winnow till 2021.

Ferrari signed, the young Monegasque, Charles Leclerc who drove for Sauber in 2018. Charles won F2 championship in 2017 and immediately impressed the Maranello based team who gave him a seat in F1 the very next year.

Sebastian Vettel, the four-times F1 World Champion, kept his seat for 2019. The 4-times world champion lost his 2018 title when Lewis Hamilton became a 5-times world champion.

Ferrari parted ways with their last F1 champion, Kimi Raikkonen, at the end of 2018. Ferrari also sacked their team boss, Maurizio Arrivabene and signed Mattia Binotto as their new team boss.

Ferrari has a long history in F1. They are the oldest and most successful team in F1. Their first race was the 1950’s Monaco GP. They have the most world championship, both Drivers’ and Constructors’. The team was started by Enzo Ferrari but he gave up as team director after just one year. Many F1 legends have driven for Ferrari including Michael Schumacher, Niki Lauda, Gilles Villeneuve, Alberto Ascari, Fernando Alonso, Kimi Raikkonen, Sebastian Vettel and Alain Prost.
