On Thursday, shortly after the McLaren F1 team posted the video of the first firing of their 2019 Spec Renault engine, the Italian powerhouse, Scuderia Ferrari, shared a glimpse of the beating heart of its 2019 F1 Title Contender. The team posted a 20 second audio, giving us a glimpse of the first start and the menacing growl of the engine powering the 2019 car on its social media channels. Listen to it for yourself below.

The Scuderia had a less than ideal 2018 Season with strong performances in the first half of the season but questionable strategy decisions and driving errors by its lead driver, the 4 times German Champion, Sebastian Vettel knocked the team down to second place in the Constructors’ Championships and the had to contend with a second and third place in the Drivers’ Championship for Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen at the end of the year.

2018 also brought with it the tragic and sudden death of the former Ferrari Chair Sergio Marchionne, a fastest lap record in Monza, a win at the US Grand Prix at Austin and the departure from the squad for Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen, a new leadership under John Elkann as Chairman of the Scuderia and the arrival of its second youngest driver ever, Charles Leclerc.

Going into 2019, Ferrari hopes to regain the high ground and eventually win the Drivers’ and the Constructors’ Championships as it prepares for the fight with its new and young driver Charles Leclerc, coming in place of the F1 veteran Kimi Raikkonen and who will be fighting for the top prize now, against Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel in his 2nd season in F1 after a stellar performance in his rookie season in 2018 with Alfa Romeo Sauber.

2019 is also looking to bring with itself multiple technical and strategic challenges as the Italian marque will have fight amid new regulations (put in place to reduce downforce and promote overtakes) and an ever stronger fight from the reigning champions Mercedes AMG F1 who will be capitalizing off the 2018 Drivers’ and Constructors’ Title victories and an ever ambitious Lewis Hamilton who will be looking to add another championship to his current tally of Five Drivers’ Titles.
