Ferrari announces 2019 car launch date

Maurizio Arrivabene, Ferrari team principal announced that the team will launch its 2019 challenger on February 15th, 2019. Ferrari is the first team to have revealed the car launch date for 2019 with the rest of the 9 teams to follow in the lead now.

The Italian F1 giant will be unveiling its car just 3 days ahead of the winter testing at Circuit de Barcelona, Catalunya.

Arrivabene, who was present at the Autosprint awards in Milan, told media that “The group led by Mattia Binotto has been working on next year’s single-seater for months now,”

However, Arrivabene avoided to draw any other additional details about the car at this early stage.

“It is too early to give an overall picture of the car,” said the Ferrari team boss.

“The engines are already running on the test benches and there are parts of the car that are already in production.”

“The parts more related to the performance will arrive at the last moment.

“Even if the tension increases because the time is less and less. On February 15 we will present the car and everything must be ready for that day.”

Arrivabene further continued,“Simulations are being done and we are working on the simulator, but the real test bench is only the track.

“That’s where you confront yourself, comparing the data you’ve collected during the winter period, and especially where you confront yourself with others" he added.

“The technicians are working hard to complete the car. We have some information from the guys who work on the simulator, but it’s still too early to talk about performance.”

The winter testing for the 2019 F1 season begins on February 18th in Barcelona whereas the season opening race, the Australian Grand Prix will kick-off on March 17th, 2019.
